Welcome to our guidance on Jane’s UK insurance features. We’ve broken this guidance up into small, digestible chunks, and you’ll find a detailed video walkthrough of each section at the bottom of the page, as well as links to the other guides in the series.
The first step in creating an insurance policy is to create the insurer company folder. To do this, you will want to be logged in as a Full Access or Administrative Staff/All Billing Access user.
Creating an Insurer
To add an insurance provider to your account, you can head to the main Settings tab > Insurers > Click New Insurer:
Next, click the Arrow to create your insurance company folder:
From here, fill in the name of the insurer (required) and any other information, such as the insurer’s address and contact info.
You can also link the insurance company’s online billing portal, if required. For example, you could add a link to Bupa’s Providers Online Portal. This will allow you to launch the portal directly from a patient’s insurance policy for claim submissions.

Default Insurer Settings
We recommend you keep the following fields enabled: “Default Patient Pays Remaining” & “Display Excess Field”.
For the majority of our UK and European clinics, we suggest unticking “Display Co Pay Field” & “Display Percentage Coverage Field”. This type of insurance billing is more common in North America, and unticking these options allows us to keep the billing experience as simple as possible in your diary.
Of course, if you do work with an insurance company who use a Co Pay and/or Percentage Coverage system, feel free to enable those options in your account.
